Cabin Information
  • Cabins are Free! No extra charge.
  • Each cabin has sleeping space for 19 people. (Bunk beds)
  • Each cabin has 2 full bathrooms with showers
  • All cabins have power
  • Cabin reservations requests should be emailed to steward@lostmoor.calontir.org
  • Please include the following information in all reservation requests:
    • SCA Names of all group members
    • Number of people in your party
    • Any special requests for specific bunks, upper/lower bunks or the few private rooms.
    • Please note: These are bunk houses, not private cabins. All cabins are considered public space. Expect people to come in at all hours to use the restrooms.
    • Additionally, cabin requests will be handled in a first come, first served manner. This will be determined by the order in which I receive the emails.

Fiber Preparation

Learn how to prepare your fiber or fabric in order to get the best results from your dye, change the color of the end result, and make the color last longer.

Historical Dyes 101

Explore some basics of what dyes we know were used in the pre-1600 world, what was possible, and how it was done.

Red Dyes

Discover the range of red hues that can be dyed from assorted plant and insect dyes, and how to achieve them.

Blue Dyes

The when, where, and how of blue dyes. Indigo, woad, and more!

Open Dyeing

Come experiment with the dyes! All the dye pots that have been set up over the course of the day will be available for use, and help will be available. Use what you learned at earlier class, or experiment with more complex techniques to create pattern or a wider range of colors. If you would like to take a dye bath home to use on your own, bring a jar or two. We will pack up leftover dye at the end of class time.

Vertigo Food:

The menu for Ariston (Lunch) and Deipnon (Dinner) are from Siren Feasts: A History of Food and Gastronomy in Greece, by Andrew Dalby.
All dishes are Gluten Free unless specified as NGF (Not Gluten Free)
V is Vegetarian
With the exception of the feast, these meals are all by donation.

Fourth Remove:
  • Khorion (milk pudding)
